1. Note root device

2. Stop Instance

3. Detach Volume

  • Take a note of the instance ID
  • Elastic Block Store > Volumes > Enter instance ID in search box
  • Actions > Detach Volume

4. Create Volume

  • Select type, size, AZ and the snapshot

5. Attach Volume

  • Actions > Attach Volume
  • Select Instance to attach volume to (noted in step 3)
  • Device – enter correct path as noted in step 1 (e.g. /dev/xvda)

6. Start Instance
